New season!

After a busy season serving at the new YWAM base in Kansas City, we are on the move again.  Our vision to use Aquaponics as a very practical way to serve people that are "food-poor" and need an opportunity to hear the Good News is still very much alive.  Chris has been studying Aquaponics online and working on a small unit behind our apt, but desires more in-depth training.  Bonnie Hanszen, one of the world's foremost experts in Aquaponics, has extended an invitation to him to come work with her.   Her mission statement very much aligns with ours.

One day, we hope to develop a ministry where our team 1) meets felt needs in practical ways (like Aquaponics), 2) preachs the gospel in meeting-style evangelistic crusades (and whatever way necessary!), and 3) equips church planters to facilitate rapidly multiplying church planting efforts.

So our next step is for Chris to become an Aquaponics expert!  To that end, we are moving back to Texas!   Bonnie lives twenty minutes from Grapevine, so we will land there for a season and are really excited to re-integrate with our dear friends, family, and church.

For those on our financial support team - thank you!!  We could not have ministered the last two years without you.  By the hand of God and to His glory, we are no longer in need of personal financial support.  December will be our last month to receive funds as part of YWAM staff.  However, we do welcome contributions to our ministry.  All monies given will be applied directly to ministry needs.  Details will be forthcoming on how to give.

Thank you!
Sarah, Chris, and the kids

Call2All America

Wow, I knew this blog got put on the back burner when Michael arrived, but I had no idea my last post was in June!  Oops!

We'll post a 'catch-up and what's next' post soon, but for now, take a minute or two, watch this video, and let your heart be stirred afresh for America!
Call2All, who produced this video, is part of the ministry that comes out of our YWAM-KC missions base.

My Back - Healed!!

I am excited to share this testimony with you!  It actually happened about 7 years ago, but I received some medically verifable information this week, so I wanted to share!

At the time, I was training with an upper level dressage trainer, and having the opportunity to ride some really nice horses, like the guy pictured above.

During one of my lessons, my trainer told me that I wasn't going to be able to continue to ride these very expensive upper level horses, because I made them crooked just by sitting on them.  Since one of the foundational goals of dressage is straightness, that presented a real problem.

I decided to visit a chiropractor to get checked out and the x-rays revealed a pretty severe C-curve in my spine.  (How this was missed in my school-years scoliosis check-ups, I have no idea).  No wonder I sat crooked on the horse!  At the time though, I was without a job or insurance and was about to get married.  Not good circumstances to begin regular chiro visits.

On the drive home, I prayed and asked God if He would heal my back.  A few weeks later, I asked Chris to  put his hand on my back and pray for me.  That ushered in one of the coolest God experiences I have ever had.  I went and laid down in my bedroom, and God literally adjusted my back for about 2 hours.  It was wild.  It didn't hurt much, but I felt a lot of pressure in my back and things were definitely moving around.  I was sore for the next couple of days, and then things were fine.

About six months later, I had another opportunity to ride with that same trainer.  Midway through the lesson, I asked her if I was making the horse crooked.  She looked at me, surprised, and said, "No, why would you think that?"  (She'd obviously forgotten our six month prior conversation!).  She was really excited when I shared what happened.

Last week, I visited a chiropractor here and was really curious to see what my back would look like.  She did a special scan (no x-rays!), and it revealed a nice straight back.  No C-curve to be seen!  God rocks. :)

January Update!

Kansas City!

We have landed in KC and are officially on staff with YWAM!   We are working in the Staff Services department, helping to build structure and order.

We love being here on the YWAM base (even though it's 12 degrees outside!!).  We currently have 3 DTS teams in the nations - the Phillipines team has seen over 900 give their lives to Jesus in just a couple of weeks!   We are excited to be part of what God is doing in the nations and to offer support in a really practical way.
We've also acquired an aquaponics unit, and are eagerly awaiting warmer weather so we can set it up!

Ready for our second week of homeschooling & Classical Conversations!   I'm amazed at how much Davy has learned in just 1 week!

We are currently receiving 16% of our monthly support needs. If you'd like to join our team, visit our Join Our Team page or email us to learn more!

Home from Brazil!

We're back!!!  It was both an amazing and very challenging trip.  We were busy and saw God do lots of awesome things!

A few numbers, just for curiosity's sake:
* 42 salvations
* 35 physical healings
* 1 home bible study started
* 200+ people prayed for
* 100 banana trees planted
* LOTS of opportunities to preach and teach!  (12 times for me, 7 for Chris)

One highlight for us was being able to minister as a couple in a FourSquare church out in a small town.  They were hungry for Jesus - we stayed until 10:30pm praying for them and returned the next evening for still more ministry!

We have so many stories to tell - ask Chris when you see us to share about his experience with the Kiowa Indians.  Powerful!!

We officially graduated from DTS last night and have been putting lots of pieces into place for our next steps.  We registered Davy for Classical Conversations, made arrangements for an apartment, and met with leadership here at YWAM-KC to discuss our ministry roles beginning in January.

God has been opening all sorts of doors for our aquaponics work - we'll share more of those stories in person too!  We head back to Dallas in a couple of days and look forward to seeing most of you during our few weeks there!
