For our family, His most recent surprise for us is an invitation to help pioneer a new Youth With a Mission (YWAM) base in Kansas City. God is moving in Kansas City, and we are very excited to get to be a part of what is happening there. YWAM is "building their schools alongside one of the greatest prayer movements in the world. Missions and prayer are coming together as one expression, releasing a new generation of missionaries who know their God and do great exploits."
We will have multiple roles, some of which have yet to be defined. We are very interested in aquaponics, which is a method of organic micro-farming that is highly sustainable and reproducible. It's also VERY effective. One 5x5 container can produce enough produce and fish to feed a family. YWAM-KC is interested in developing an aquaponics program as well as a training system to equip missionaries with the skills to implement aquaponics in their communities.
There are many training schools operating out of this base (and more beginning all the time!). I love to teach, and we should have many opportunities to teach and staff in their training schools.
How did all this come about, you ask?
We'd love to tell you! When God spoke to us in February of 2009 that Antioch Dallas was planted, and it was time for us to go, we also felt like He said that we would be at Gateway for 2-3 years, and then He would send us out. May marks 3 years at Gateway.
We recently began receiving prophetic words from different folks within the church about preparing, and even about packing our things!
A pastor friend at Gateway knew our heart for every person in the world to have an opportunity for an intimate relationship with Jesus, and our heart for the poor. She introduced us to the concept of aquaponics, referenced above. I began to research, and learned about a few different non-profits that were using it, including an inner-city Chicago ministry and the YWAM base in Kona, Hawaii. Then, as life does, it got busy, and I didn't think much more about it.
Several weeks later, I was sitting in a meeting and God dropped a picture in my mind. It looked basically like this:
Interesting! I went home and began researching. I soon learned that a group of church planters from YWAM had just moved to Kansas City to work with IHOP!
After talking with the YWAM-KC leaders by phone and praying over it for several weeks, we decided to visit Kansas City and see what God might have. We had a wonderful trip, and our hearts definitely connected on a lot of levels. We finished our trip with an invitation to join their staff and help pioneer the work that God is doing there.
Our Invitation For You
We would love for you to partner with us as we make this transition to Kansas City. You can be a part of what God is doing there through your prayers and through your financial support.
We want you to feel completely free to hear from God and support us as you feel led. He abundantly supplies all our need!
Wow! What a neat opportunity! I will be praying for you guys!
